Who's The Predator, Who's The Prey?

 She slithered through the grass, waiting for it

Her slits sniffing, watching, patient for a long minute;

The leaves rustled, the trees shivered as though in warning

She had waited a whole day, she could not think, the desire burning.

Her tongue could taste him, as though he was right there

He was near and quivering with fear, hiding in his lair;

The tiny tail thumping, it was no longer in his control

But he could not do anything, for he knew she was on patrol.

Her longing for satisfaction was ending

Her final blow was pending

He did not have the time, “act fast”, he thought

He was surrounded, was he to rot?

Yes, she thought, there he is. Nature had made her unforgiving

Her tongue directed her towards him, he was near her, WTH his eyes rapidly

blinking;

She was doing this since she was young, mercy was unknown

She was content, she knew the prey was there, her own.

He had no last wish, he had seen her, coming closer with her hungry eyes

He thought about life as his flashed in front of him, the times he had, the times he

nearly died

She was near, within an inch. Nature tried to tell her, she refused to flinch;

Then he struck like lightening! Beak like newly minted gold, wings soared, riding the

tide.

It was over, within seconds, she too was flying. Only this time, to disappear for

eternity.
