THE CITY OF BROKEN DREAMERS

Tis' the city of broken dreamers
Where life hits and makes aspirants sweepers.
Where in the name of science, formulae are jotted down one's throat.
Where in the dark sits an old lady who lost her daughter to the fan and rope.

Tis' the city of broken dreamers,
Where children drown in books, deeper and deeper.
Where the parents know the truth, but stay silent.
Where a boy studies night and day, wishing to one day, buy his parents an island.

Tis' the city of broken dreamers,
Who lost themselves to this "education".
Fighting for marks and dying to pressure.
Is this what we call a topper's celebration?

Because I once knew a girl, smarter to all.
But alas, she fell to the city of broken dreamers, like an unanswered call...
